The head baseball coach and an assistant professor of classics in Languages & Literature of Europe and Americas are among eight members of an advisory panel announced today to assist in the search for the University of Hawaii’s next football coach.

In a statement, UH said, "These individuals will work closely with (athletic director David) Matlin, who will ultimately be accountable to make a recommendation to Chancellor Robert Bley-Vroman."

UH said more than 50 applications have been received for the position that became available when UH fired Norm Chow after the Oct. 31 loss to Air Force.

The school said the panel "has already begun the process of reviewing applications that have been received."

Named to the group are:

Carl Clapp — Associate Athletics Director, UHM Athletics Department.

Dan Harris-McCoy — Assistant Professor, Classics, UHM Languages & Literature of Europe and Americas; Chair of the Faculty Senate Committee on Athletics, Member of Athletics Advisory Board.

Lori Ideta — Vice Chancellor for Students, UHM.

Eric Okasaki — Head Athletic Trainer, UHM Athletics Department.

Amanda Paterson — Director of Compliance, UHM Athletics Department.

Roxie Shabazz — Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Director of Admissions, UHM.

Mike Trapasso — Head Baseball Coach, UHM Athletics Department.

Hugh Yoshida — Ahahui Koa Anuenue Chair & Former Athletics Director, UHM Athletics Department

Athletics Department Human Resources Specialist Paula Nishimoto will help guide the hiring process, the announcement said.
