Former Hawaii basketball coach Bob Nash has been named coach of the Saitama Broncos, a pro team in Japan, according to the team’s website.

An earlier newspaper report indicated Nash, 59, would be head coach of the Osaka Evessa.

Nash, a former UH great as a player and longtime assistant coach, was fired in March after three losing seasons as head coach of the Rainbows. His UH teams went 34-56 overall and 10-20 in 2009-2010.

Nash’s son, Bobby, played for the Shiga Lakesters of the same league the past two seasons.
