The Coast Guard today refloated a 37-foot fishing vessel that started sinking shortly after taking off from Lahaina Harbor.

The boat, called No Problem, started taking on water shortly after departing from Maui about 4:45 a.m., the Coast Guard said in a news release. The operator returned to the pier at Lahaina Harbor, moored, and had all passengers get off.

A Coast Guard pollution investigator arrived at 5:40 a.m. and had a boom placed around the vessel, which had about 110 gallons of diesel fuel on board.

Mooring lines prevented the vessel from completely sinking, and two water pumps removed the excess water, the Coast Guard said. The vessel was refloated and is in stable condition.

A local salvage company is working to determine the hull’s integrity. No one reported any injuries.
