A Marine Corps explosive ordnance disposal team retrieved a practice bomb from beneath a house in Hilo yesterday.

Big Island police said a family cleaning the home of a dead relative found what appeared to be a bomb.

The Marine team removed the M38A2 practice bomb, used in the 1930s and 1940s. The bomb contained enough explosive to create smoke and a small flash, police said.
