A 59-year-old Kekaha man, who was in critical condition at Wilcox Hospital after a near-drowning, was moved to the Queen’s Medical Center yesterday, a Kauai County spokeswoman said.

His current condition was not known, said spokeswoman Mary Daubert.

The man had been body surfing with two family members at a beach in Anahola known as “Middles.” at about 3:05 p.m. Saturday. As the group swam back in , a family member noticed that the man face down in the water and brought him to shore.

Lifeguards hooked up the victim to an automated external defibrillator and ambulance crews continued advanced life support efforts until he arrived at the hospital.
