Fire causes $40K in damage to Hilo concrete and asphalt plant
Hilo firefighters yesterday morning extinguished a fire at a concrete and asphalt manufacturing plant that engulfed a heating oil pump and storage tank and caused an estimated $40,000 in damage.
Three engines and four other units responded to the 6:50 a.m. alarm and found the enclosed pump and tank, as well as a wooden roof, on fire.
The blaze was brought under control by 7:10 a.m. and extinguished give minutes later.
No injuries were reported.
