Police open murder investigation in Kealia death

Kauai police have opened a murder investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found Saturday in a wooded area in Kealia.

Police today said the body was identified to be that of Amber Jackson, who had been reported as a missing person.

An autopsy performed Tuesday found that Jackson had injuies caused by an assault, police said.

The case had previously been classified as an unattended death.

Officials said there is no evidence to indicate this incident is related to any of the homicides that took place on Kauai’s Westside in 1999.
