Kauai has been named the second-best island in the world by Travel + Leisure, while Maui and the Big Island ranked eighth and 10th, respectively.
Atop the ratings is Galapagos, which is actually 18 Pacific islands – none of which is called Galapagos – about 600 miles west of Ecuador, which owns them. The rankings are based on reader surveys assessing natural attractions, activities, sights, restaurants, people and value.
