Kids’ choir to perform; ‘Coffee House’ debuts

The Hawaii Korean Cultural Center will hold a fundraising concert Aug. 1 featuring the Far East Broadcasting Co.’s children’s choir, comprising 450 members from 12 cities throughout Korea. Tickets for the concert at the Hawai’i Convention Center are $10, with all proceeds going toward the building of a Korean cultural center.

THIS WEEK’S SYNOPSES

"COFFEE HOUSE" / EPISODES 1-2
Tonight, 6:45 p.m.: Seung-yeon is an unemployed 20-something who works at her father’s coffee shop. She passes her time by reading comic books and fantasizing. But her life changes when a handsome and famous young writer, Jin-su, walks into her coffee shop one rainy day. To make things even better, she gets a job as Jin-su’s assistant.
Tonight, 7:45 p.m.: Seung-yeon soon realizes she landed herself into trouble by becoming Jin-su’s assistant. She also finds out she got the job as a favor. Eun-young, Jin-su’s publisher and friend, is pleasantly surprised when a passer-by on the street hands her flowers. But the day suddenly takes a turn for the worse when she finds out her ex, Han Ji-won, is behind it.

"DEFINITELY NEIGHBORS" / EPISODES 17-18
Monday, 7:45 p.m.: Sung-jae and Mee-jin take the kids to Gun-hee’s restaurant on Children’s Day. Sung-jae finds out that Gun-hee is Mee-jin’s friend. Everyone, including Eun-seo, acts like they don’t know each other. Ki-hoon goes to dinner at Ha-yong’s house. Sung-jae meets with Ji-yong and tells her who Gun-hee is. He tells her to quit her job at the restaurant.
Tuesday, 7:45 p.m.: Ji-yong quits her job at the restaurant after she finds out that Gun-hee didn’t tell her he knew about Sung-jae and Mee-jin. Gun-hee tries to persuade her not to quit. Jung-soon hurts her back and Mee-jin goes out of her way to help her. Ji-yong’s father finds a new job as a security guard. Ki-hoon takes flowers to Ha-yong’s mother on Parents’ Day.

"BAD BOY" / EPISODES 1-2
Wednesday, 7:45 p.m.: Jaein meets her boyfriend Gyuhwan’s mother for the first time, but the mother tells Jaein that she cannot approve of them and that she should leave her son. Then Gyuhwan gives Jaein an envelope of money. While Jaein drives home mad, she gets into an accident with Gunwook. She calls 911 but Gunwook disappears. Gunwook lands on Monet’s boat by accident while parachuting. Monet falls in love with Gunwook at first sight.
Thursday, 7:45 p.m.: Monet is sad because her birthday was ruined by the adults. Gunwook cheers Monet up with flower candles. Gunwook keeps appearing in front of Monet, and Monet keeps falling for him. Monet’s sister, Terra, gets mad when she sees Gunwook around Monet. Jaein approaches Gunwook thinking that he is Taesung.

"LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL" / EPISODES 21-22
Friday, 7:45 p.m.: Jina gets hurt in a trampoline "accident," igniting Jihye’s fury. Jihye comes down on the whole family for not taking better care of Jina. Byungtae apologizes to Taeseop for being ignorant of his son’s pain. Minjae breaks the news to the family.
Saturday, 7:45 p.m.: Byungtae and Minjae comfort each other and tell each other all they can do for Taeseop is to let him be himself at home and that the rest is for him to face alone. Byunggeol can’t accept Taeseop’s sexuality and displays downright displeasure.
