Father arrested after son is shot
Paramedics treated a man, 41, for a single gunshot wound early yesterday morning at the Hauula fire station, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city’s Emergency Services Department.
Police said the victim entered his father’s bedroom to get medicine, and his father shot at him twice. He fled and went to the fire station for help.
Paramedics responding to the 2:54 a.m. call took the man to a trauma center in serious condition, Cheplic said.
He was transported in serious condition to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the upper right chest and released.
His father, 72, was arrested at the scene.
Man critical after nearly drowning
A man believed to be in his 50s was in critical condition yesterday after nearly drowning in waters off Waikiki Beach.

Lifeguards pulled the man from the water and performed CPR on him until Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived and transported him to an area hospital, according to EMS spokesman Bryan Cheplic.The incident happened at around 3:40 p.m.
Police arrest suspect in shooting
Maui police arrested a 21-year-old Waiehu man Saturday in connection with the shooting of a 30-year-old man following what witnesses described as a confrontation between several people on Olena Street.
The victim suffered a single gunshot wound to the left thigh and was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in good condition.
Police located the alleged shooter, who was attempting to flee the area by car, and pursued him to Kahekili Highway near Kahakuloa Village. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder and transported to the Wailuku Police Station.
Police seek man in alleged assault
Police were looking yesterday for a 41-year-old man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 3-year-old girl Saturday night in Waianae. The assault was reported at 6:30 p.m., and police have identified a suspect but his whereabouts were unknown.
Man allegedly hospitalizes friend
An argument between friends that initially ended amicably in Kalihi Saturday night ended up with one of the men returning and hitting the other over the head with a wooden object, police said.
One of the friends, a 35-year-old man, was arrested for investigation of felony assault. The other, a 36-year-old man, ended up in the hospital in fair condition with head injuries.
The two men had parted ways following an argument, police said. But the 35-year-old then returned and allegedly hit his friend from behind with a wooden object at 8 p.m. Saturday, police said.
