Scouts are presented the President Hoover Award at the 1933 Boy Scouts of America Makahiki at Honolulu Stadium.

For Boy Scouts in Hawaii and in the United States, 2010 marks 100 years of Scouting. Each Sunday throughout the year, the Star-Advertiser will present historic photographs and factoids to help commemorate the centennial.

Three new merit badges have been added to the long list of badges Scouts can earn: Inventing, Scuba Diving and Scouting Heritage, bringing the total to 128. In 1926, there were 57. Two more merit badges will be available later this year: Geocaching and Robotics.
