Honolulu police are searching for two Hawaii State Hospital patients who escaped on different trips with hospital staff recently.

About 1:45 p.m. Monday, Pomale Falaniko was being supervised at the Windward Mall during a transition trip by Kaneohe State Hospital staff, police said.

As he was being escorted, Falaniko walked away without permission, police said. He was last seen running toward Kamehameha Highway.

Falaniko is a patient at the State Hospital and is considered dangerous.

On Aug. 17, Alfred Paul Godfrey, a patient of the Hawaii State Hospital, disappeared after attending a meeting at the River of Life Church located at 101 N. Pauahi St., along with other patients and a representative of the Hawaii State Hospital. Police said Godfrey was instructed to stay at the site but couldn’t be found when the meeting ended about 5:30 p.m., police said.

Godfrey is known to frequent the Chinatown area.

Anyone with information about the two escapes is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300, or *CRIME on a cellular phone.
