UH to host conference on disaster management
The College of Engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa will host a conference on disaster management in mid-November.
The annual International Institute for Infrastructure Renewal and Reconstruction conference will be held the university’s Campus Center on Nov. 15.
Among the topics to be covered are emergency preparedness, risk analysis and reliability, communications, relief work, project management, infrastructure renewal and water supply.
Hawaii is subject to occasional hurricanes and is at risk of tsunamis created by undersea earthquakes. Volcano activity, mainly on the Big Island, also is a concern among the state’s emergency managers.
