Alleged bag thief arrested at a Waikiki beach
Observant beach-goers led to the arrest of a theft suspect in Waikiki yesterday afternoon.
Witnesses noticed a man canvassing the beach and going through a blue backpack and then throwing the backpack away into a trash can, police said.
A witness recovered the bag and called police. When offices arrived, several witnesses pointed out the suspect, 20, of no local address, police said. Officers located the owner of the bag, who identified the contents in the suspect’s possession.
