A 40-year-old Palolo woman, upset because her 7-year-old son wouldn’t help with the chores, threw a shampoo bottle that cut his head, according to police who arrested her on an assault charge.

The boy was arguing with his sister when his mother told him to stop and help with the chores about 7 a.m. yesterday, police said.

When the boy ignored her, the woman grew angrier and tossed the plastic bottle, which hit him on the right side of the head and opened a half-inch cut, police said.

Later in the morning, the boy went to school and told officials that his mother caused the injury.

Police were called and officers arrested the woman at her Ahe Street home at 11:45 a.m. She was charged with second-degree assault and released on $1,000 bail.
