Big isle man held in Kona stabbing

A Big Island man was being held in a Kona cellblock in connection with a stabbing Tuesday in Hookena.

A 34-year-old Honaunau man told police he sustained cuts to his chest and arm after a male acquaintance stabbed him during an argument at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday in South Kona, police said. He was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.

At 9:20 a.m. yesterday, police arrested a 51-year-old Hookena man on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Homeless man arrested in theft

Police arrested a 23-year-old homeless man who allegedly broke into his father’s Nuuanu house even though a temporary restraining order barred him from the residence.

The suspect, who had been evicted from the family home, unlawfully entered the house and took an item Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police arrested him at the 1700 block of Nuuanu Avenue on suspicion of first-degree burglary and violating a restraining order.

Central Oahu fire contained

Honolulu firefighters quickly brought under control a brush fire at the western end of Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park last night.

The fire was reported at 5:32 p.m. and firefighters had it under control at 6:31, said fire Capt. Robert Main.

Threat leads to man’s arrest

A 41-year-old man who was upset after he was told to leave a secured area of Pearl Harbor allegedly threatened a security officer with a knife, police said.

The security officer told the man to leave an unauthorized area of Pearl Harbor about 2:45 p.m. Monday, police said. Soon after, the officer returned and told the man again to leave, but he pulled out a knife and then threatened the officer, police said.

He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and for an outstanding warrant.
