Native Hawaiian Convention opens today
Several members of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are to attend the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement’s ninth annual Native Hawaiian Convention.
The initiative’s executive director, Kiran Ahuja, is slated to be the keynote speaker at a luncheon Tuesday. Other members will be speaking to attendees and holding various sessions.
The convention runs through Thursday at the Hawaii Convention Center.
This year’s theme is “Building on Greatness — Sovereignty in Action! Kukulu Aupuni — Kukula Ea!”
The mission of the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement is to enhance the well-being of Hawaii through the cultural, economic, and community development of Native Hawaiians.
