Honolulu police locked down Aiea Elementary School, St. Elizabeth Elementary School the and Aiea Hongwangji Mission Preschool for about half an hour this afternoon as they searched the area for a suspect.

The schools re-opened at about 1 p.m. after police captured their man at Puakala Street and Nanu Place, a dispatch supervisor said.

The man was apparently wanted on warrants, police said.

Claire Tamamoto, director of the preschool, said the suspect ran through their school yard in his getaway attempt.
