Honolulu police said an 89-year-old woman died at The Queen’s Medical Center overnight after she was struck by a school bus in Waikiki yesterday afternoon.

The accident happened in front of the Hale Koa Hotel at about 4:40 p.m.

Police said the school bus, driven by a 43-year-old man, turned left onto Kalia Road from Maluhia Road and ran over the woman, who was in a crosswalk.

There were no passengers in the school bus at the time.

The woman was taken to Queen’s in very critical condition with severe leg injuries, police said.

Alcohol, drugs and speed were not factors in the accident, police said.
