BYUH women win soccer title
Kim Micheletti scored in the 17th minute to lead No. 7 Brigham Young-Hawaii to a 2- 0 victory over Chaminade yesterday at Saint Louis Field, clinching the PacWest women’s soccer title.
Nicole Slater added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute for BYU-Hawaii, which is 12-0-2 overall and 10-0-1 in conference with a total of 31 points.
Grand Canyon also can compile 31 points, but since BYUH holds a 1-0-1 head-to-head record over Grand Canyon, the Seasiders clinched the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA II tournament.
Goalie Marissa Minor had 13 saves for Chaminade.
Seasiders hold off Silverswords
Aaron Drewery scored an insurance goal in the 84th minute to lead Brigham Young-Hawaii to a 4-2 win over Chaminade in men’s soccer at Saint Louis Field.

The Seasiders (3-9-1, 2-8-1) appeared to break open the game with two second-half goals within 37 seconds to take a 3-0 lead. Nursing a 1-0 lead, Viktor Bezhani scored in the 55th minute and Drewery scored seconds later for BYUH.
The Silverswords (1-8-1, 0-9-1) rallied with a goal from Jordan Kitabayashi in the 77th minute and one from Michael Marrs 4 minutes later.
In another men’s match, CSU Dominguez Hills (11-4-2) defeated Hawaii-Hilo 4-0 in Hilo. UHH fell to 5-6-2.

The first PacWest Magazine television show of this season is at 8 tonight on OC 16. The show includes player features and competition highlights from around the conference. Commissioner Bob Hogue and Malia Smith host.

Sixth honor to Aspnaes
Hawaii Pacific sophomore Frida Aspnaes ran away with her sixth weekly honor after winning the HPU Invitational on Saturday. She was timed in 18:54 on the 5K course at Kualoa Ranch to win the women’s race by 10 seconds and helping the host Sea Warriors to second place.

» Katherine Buxton, BYUH: The junior was second (19:04) at the HPU meet in leading the Seasiders to the team title.

» Lacey Johnson Krout, BYUH: The junior was fourth overall (19:12) at the HPU meet
Weekly honor to BYUH’s Puzey
BYU-Hawaii senior Thomas Rivers Puzey earned the weekly honor for the second time this season courtesy of his first-place finish at the HPU Invitational. Puzey was timed in 26:48 over the 8K course at Kualoa Ranch, leading the Seasiders to the team title.

» Anders Ludvigsen, HPU: The freshman was a few fractions of a second behind Puzey to finish second overall and help the Sea Warriors to second place.
» Justin Royer, BYUH: The junior was third overall, 3 seconds off the winning pace.
» Keoni Ucker, UHH: The junior was fourth overall, and the first Vulcan across the line (26:59).

» Alysia Ann Barone, UHH: The junior goalie stopped 12 of 13 shots for a .932 save percentage as the Vulcans went 1-1.
» Amber Fuller, HPU: The sophomore midfielder scored both goals in a 4-minute span for the Sea Warriors against Dominican.
» Emily Mearns, BYUH: The senior forward had a goal and an assist in the 4-1 wn over NDNU.
» Kelly Parker, UHH: The senior midfielder headed in the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over NDNU.
» Sanoe Souza, HPU: The sophomore defender scored the Sea Warriors’ only goal in a 2-1 loss to NDNU and had an assist in the 2-0 win against Dominican.

» Kainoa Kahui, HPU: The sophomore defender scored the winning goal late in overtime to lift the the Sea Warriors.
» Dane Kaylor, UHH: The senior goalkeeper had a .800 save percentage in a double overtime draw with NDNU and a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Dominican.

» Natasha Bell, HPU: The junior hitter had 24 kills and three aces as the Sea Warriors went 2-0 last week. She had 19 kills and 11 digs in the five-set win at BYUH.
» Hillary Hurley, UHH: The junior hitter had 31 kills, two blocks and an ace for the Vulcans, who went 2-0 to remain atop the conference standings.
» Kyra Pelayo, HPU: The junior libero had 62 digs for the Sea Warriors in two wins, including 35 against the Seasiders.
» Katie Swenson, UHH: The senior setter had 75 assists as the Vulcans went 2-0.
