There was no change in the alert level for domestic and international flights arriving into or leaving Honolulu Airport yesterday in the wake of an apparent terror plot from Yemen.

Neither the military nor the state government, which was on a Furlough Friday, took extra precautions.

Tammy Mori, state Department of Transportation spokeswoman, said "it was business as usual," and state transportation officials did not receive any new directions from the federal Transportation Security Administration, whose job is to protect the country’s transportation system, including cargo placed aboard passenger airplanes.

Since last year the TSA has required all air carriers to screen 50 percent of cargo placed on passenger aircraft, according to the TSA website.

The current security alert level is "orange" or "high." The next level, "red" or "severe," is the highest level.

There were no changes in the security procedures at Hawaii’s military bases.

However, Army members and their families were told to increase their vigilance for any suspicious packages.
