Former University of Hawaii long snapper Jake Ingram was cut yesterday by the New England Patriots, according to ESPNBoston.com and the Boston Herald.

The Patriots signed former Cincinnati kicker Shayne Graham and Baltimore Ravens long snapper Matt Katula yesterday.

Katula, 28, snapped for the Baltimore Ravens from 2005 to ’09.

Ingram, who was drafted in the sixth round in 2009, struggled in recent weeks.

He had a couple of botched snaps and picked up a penalty in the 23-20 victory over San Diego. After an uneventful game against the Minnesota Vikings, Ingram struggled again, short-hopping snaps against the Cleveland Browns.

Lions mum on QB status

Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz yesterday declined to address a report that quarterback Matthew Stafford has a Grade 3 separated shoulder, a slightly worse injury than the one he suffered to the same shoulder earlier this year.

"We don’t share results of MRIs or anything else with members of the media or anybody else other than the player and the staff here," Schwartz said in his weekly radio show.

Stafford is out for at least this week’s game against the Buffalo Bills and probably longer. He missed five games with a separated shoulder earlier this year and is awaiting a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on the results of the MRI exam he took Monday.

Steelers concussions

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Will Allen and running backs Mewelde Moore and Isaac Redman sustained concussions during Monday night’s game in Cincinnati and must pass tests before being cleared to play.
