Longtime air talents Jane Pascual and Bill Carpenter are looking for work after being "restructured" out of their positions at Cox Radio Hawaii.

Pascual’s image and bio still were posted on the KRTR-FM 96.3 website as of Friday, but Carpenter’s information had been removed. He had left the company the prior week, whereas Pascual’s separation came last Monday.

The reason given was "restructuring," Carpenter said. "It’s industrywide; it’s not just in Hawaii," he said. He had been at "Krater" for 13 years, most recently doing afternoon drive. His air shift is now staffed by "Island Boy," who is also heard on KPHW-FM 104.3.

Pascual, who could not be reached, was one of the few remaining radio news professionals on Oahu. She had been with "Krater" for 20 years, Carpenter said. Her bio on the station website said she has been doing radio news since the late 1980s and quoted an unnamed cousin as saying, "Jane’s so suited for her job because she’s nosey and loves to talk."

According to Carpenter, the station’s radio personalities are now handling news duties.

Station officials did not return calls.

Hawaii to return to HGTV

A Hawaii story will be aired to millions of homes on the HGTV cable channel show "House Hunters," which debuts Thanksgiving Day.

The half-hour feature centers on Hawaii Realtor Gary McCarty of Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties and the search, by his Army-family clients, for a home.

The family, as one might imagine, wants to find the home of its dreams. Those dreams entail staying in the school district, intensifying the "challenges of a competitive real estate market," according to a publicist.

With the serviceman soon to deploy, the window of opportunity was further limited.

McCarty’s previous on-camera appearances include locally produced TV shows and films, doing background work. He was also seen in a Travel Channel special.

As is the norm with cable channels, fear not if you miss the Thursday airing, as it will be repeated numerous times. Check your local listings.

The Hawaii Chapter of the Social Media Club will highlight the social media accomplishments of the year and will give away user-submitted prizes on Dec. 15 at Ka Restaurant & Lounge at Ward Centre.

The club hopes to gather as many social media achievement stories as it possibly can and is inviting Hawaii-based people and organizations to submit entries online, at its website.

The event will be more of a party than a meeting, though organizers promise a running slide show of all the stories compiled.

The club has completed two years of free outreach to the overall community, from individuals to businesses, nonprofit organizations and beyond, and reports on its website widespread adoption of social media practices in the islands.

The club will have a Twitter-based prize giveaway as part of the Dec. 15 event, for which reservations will soon be accepted.

Naturally, for tracking conversation traffic online, there is a so-called hashtag for discussing the event, which is #HSMYIR, for "Hawaii Social Media Year in Review."
