San Diego State rolls past UNLV, 48-14

San Diego State running back Brandon Sullivan slid through the UNLV defense for a first-half touchdown.

SAN DIEGO » Ryan Lindley threw four touchdown passes to lead bowl-bound San Diego State to a 48-14 win over UNLV yesterday.

San Diego State (8-4, 5-3 Mountain West) finished with its most wins in 14 seasons and will play in its first bowl game since 1998.

UNLV plays Hawaii Saturday at Aloha Stadium.

Lindley completed 22 of 30 passes for 338 yards. The junior threw TD passes of 41 and 50 yards to DeMarco Sampson, a 17-yarder to Brandon Sullivan and a 3-yard pass to Vincent Brown.

Ronnie Hillman, who scored on a 10-yard dash, ran for 152 yards on 19 carries to break the conference record for rushing yards by a freshman with 1,304 this season.

Kyle Watkins had the only offensive score for the Rebels (2-10, 2-6) on a 27-yard pass from Omar Clayton. UNLV’s other TD came when Mike Clausen carried a fumble recovery 54 yards with about a minute left.

Louisiana Tech 45, San Jose State 38

Lennon Creer rushed for a career-high 252 yards and three touchdowns, and Phillip Livas tied an NCAA record with an 88-yard punt return for a touchdown to lead the Bulldogs (5-6, 4-3 WAC) past the Spartans (1-11, 0-7). It was Livas’ eighth career kick return for a touchdown.

Fresno State 23, Idaho 20

A.J. Ellis dove into the end zone from 1 yard out with 14 seconds left, lifting the Bulldogs (7-4, 5-3 WAC) to a victory over the Vandals (5-7, 2-5).
