Kailua, Kahaluu hit with power outages
Residents in Enchanted Lake and some parts of Kailua town were without power tonight. It was immediately determined if the power outage was weather-related.
The outage occurred about 9:30 p.m. and a troubleshooter was working on it, said Hawaiian Electric Co. spokesman Darren Pai.
He did not immediately know how many customers were affected or what caused of the outage.
Wind knocked out power to about 2,000 customers in Kahaluu earlier in the evening.
Wind blowing power lines too close together created a short circuit that caused the blackout about 6:30 p.m., Pai said. Power was restored about 8 p.m.
Police also reported a power outage in the Pearl City area about 10:40 p.m.
