Clarke K.L. Bright, band director at the Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus, has been appointed as bandmaster of the Royal Hawaiian Band.

Mayor Peter Carlisle made the announcement today at a news conference in his office.

Bright has been director at the Kapalama Campus since 2009, after serving as its middle school band director for seven years.

The nomination is subject to confirmation by the City Council.
