The state Board of Education has adopted committee assignments for the upcoming year.

John Penebacker and Maralyn Kurshals will serve as chairman and vice chairwoman, respectively, of the Administrative Services Committee.

Janis Akuna and Pamela Young will lead the budget and finance panel.

Lei Ahu Isa and Leona Rocha-Wilson will head up the Curriculum, Instruction and Student Support Committee.

The committee overseeing legislation, public charter schools and public libraries will be led by Carol Mon Lee and Kim Coco Iwamoto.

And Penebacker will chair two collective bargaining panels. Akuna will co-chair one of them and Maggie Cox will co-chair the other.
