Honokaa man charged in Kealakehe High School knife incident

Authorities charged 21-year-old Justin Matias with five counts of trespass, terroristic threatening and drug offenses. Matias allegedly pulled a knife on a security guard at Kealakehe High School Tuesday.

A Honokaa man who allegedly pulled a knife on a security guard at Kealakehe High School in Kona was being held on $32,000 bail pending his initial court appearance this morning.

Prosecutors charged Justin Matias yesterday with trespass, terroristic threatening and drug offenses in connection with Tuesday’s incident, which triggered a precautionary lockdown of the public high school campus

Matias, 21, was arrested and taken to Kona Community Hospital after complaining of back pain and a minor laceration on his ear from the struggle with the guard.
