Flash flood warning canceled for Oahu, but heavy rains still possible
The National Weather Service canceled a flash flood warning for Oahu, but the National Weather Service says heavy rains are still possible through tomorrow afternoon.
More than 8.5 inches of rain fell on Maunawili by this afternoon; nearly 6 inches was reported in Kaneohe, Hawaii Kai and the Honolulu Airport.
A flash flood watch remains in effect for all islands through tomorrow afternoon, meaning heavy rains — even thundershowers — could still create flooding conditions.
Forecasters said rain clouds are moving up from the south across all islands.
The heaviest rain appeared to moving off Oahu and headed towards Maui and the Big Island this evening.
Moderate snowfall — perhaps 5 inches — is also expected on Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea through Tuesday.
