Police investigate kidnapping, theft of postal package
Police arrested two men in connection with a kidnapping, burglary and terroristic threatening case that started at a home in Palolo and ended at a nearby post office where a package was allegedly stolen.
The suspects, ages 56 and 27, forced their way into the home of a 22-year-old Palolo man yesterday at 11:09 a.m., police said. The 56-year-old man damaged the victim’s laptop computer while the younger man searched through the victim’s belongings, police said.
The suspects demanded a post office box key as the older man held the victim against a wall by his throat until he was unable to breathe or speak, police said.
The suspects allegedly threatened the victim with an ice pick, forced him into a car and drove him to the post office. Police said the older suspect escorted him to a counter, where the victim signed for an insured package and then drove away, leaving the victim at the post office.
A witness observed the kidnapping and called police with the license plate of the suspects’ car. The two were arrested at 1:25 p.m.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released, police said.
