Salt Lake man charged with manslaughter for bar fight death
Police arrested a 23-year-old man yesterday on suspicion of killing a 35-year-old man in September.
Aysa Delos Santos, of Ala Lilikoi Street, was charged with manslaughter yesterday in a grand jury indictment. He was arrested at his home at 6:15 p.m. and was being held at the Kapolei cellblock on $100,000 bail.
The victim has been identified as Christopher Myers of Honolulu. The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office determined his cause of death was alcohol concussion syndrome from blunt head trauma, caused by a fall following a punch. He also had a history of alcohol abuse and a prior concussion.
Police had said Myers and another man got into a fight fronting Club Saigon Passion III, at 1420 Kapiolani Blvd., on the morning of Sept. 19. A security officer found Myers unresponsive with suspicious injuries about 7:30 a.m. at 1440 Kapiolani Blvd.
Police arrested Delos Santos on Sept. 22 on suspicion of second-degree murder but released him the following day, pending investigation.
