Isagawa leads by 14 at Kaanapali

Cassy Isagawa pushed her advantage to 14 shots in yesterday’s rainy second round of the U.S. Kids Golf Kaanapali Hawaiian Classic.

Isagawa, the reigning state high school champion, should be comfortable going into today’s final round. Earlier this year she won the Maui Interscholastic League title by 44 shots.

Other Hawaii leaders in the nine girls age groups are Kapolei’s Aneka Seumanutafa, who has a share of first in 10s, Wahiawa’s Zoey Akagi-Bustin (12), Makawao’s Kirsten Ishikawa (13) and Kimberlie Miyamoto, the only entrant in 14s. Boys leaders from Hawaii are Honolulu’s Torin Dezzani, who has a 16-shot cushion in the 7s, and Lahaina’s Noah Klipstein, who is 1 up on Kahului’s Kyeton Littel-Kamimoto in the oldest age division (18).

Nearly 170 juniors from 22 states, Canada, Guam, Hong Kong, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom are playing in the final regional championship of the U.S. Kids season.
