Woman stabbed to death at home

A woman was stabbed to death by a relative at their home in Kalihi yesterday morning, police said.

The woman, 64, was found on the kitchen floor of the house on the 1300 block of Arsenal Street near Middle Street about 6:15 a.m., police said.

An 80-year-old man, whom police said is a relative, turned himself in at police headquarters around 12:45 p.m. He was being held pending charges of second-degree murder.

The woman, who was taken in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center, was pronounced dead at 2:35 p.m., police said.

There were conflicting reports of the relationship between the victim and suspect.

 

Officers nab 2 auto theft suspects

Honolulu police say officers captured two suspected auto thieves Tuesday morning after a brief car chase through Haleiwa.

Police said an officer noticed a vehicle with what appeared to be car trouble on the side of the road in Wahiawa. A check of the license plates showed the car had been stolen.

Noticing the police car, the suspects jumped into the stolen car and sped toward Haleiwa, police said.

The car crashed into a wall near Mahaulu Lane and the suspects, a 22-year-old Waialua man and 22-year-old Wahiawa man, ran away, but were arrested nearby at about 7:45 a.m., police said.

 

2 men arrested in beating of teens

Two men have been arrested in connection with the beating and kidnapping of three teenagers from a bus stop in Kalihi on Monday night.

Police said the teenagers, ages 16, 17 and 18, were at the bus stop when two men in their 20s drove up in a dark pickup truck and threatened them unless they got into the truck bed.

Police said the teenagers were assaulted for two hours until they were able to escape and call police at about 10:50 p.m.

The victims were able to identify one of the alleged kidnappers in a photo lineup. Officers arrested the man about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday without incident.

The other alleged kidnapper, also 24, a Kalihi man, was arrested at 1:45 p.m. yesterday at the Kalihi police station.
