Nancy Gorospe was named outstanding employee of the year by the Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association yesterday.

Gorospe, fountain dispenser at the Moana Surfrider, a Westin Resort & Spa, was selected to receive the lodging industry’s top award because she goes the extra mile.

"Not only do her associates notice her demeanor, but each guest she comes into contact with does as well. She performs every task to the fullest and does so with a quality surpassed by few," said Marisa Hallsted, outlet manager at the Moana Surfrider, who nominated Gorospe for the award.

The Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year was one of nine awards given yesterday at the 21st annual Na Poe Paahana awards luncheon at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa.

Other hotel workers honored included Barbara Branvold, Gilbert Shibao, Jeff Montoya, Hattie Obrero, Mike Ajifu, Gary Asio, Raul "Flip" Herrera, Henry Tu, Edward Kim Jr., Roldan Blando, Sam Delos Santos, Chizuru Burmeister, Noah Berkey, Robiin Zukeran, Julie Manuel, Rudy "Rudez" Melchor, Connie Villa, Brian Hunnings, Rodney "Rod" Suzumoto, Chasity Saver-Martin, Kenneth Bryant, Roy Robins, Alan Oku and Gregg Valen.
