Shots fired into car in Haleiwa; no one hurt

Police opened an attempted-murder case after someone fired shots into a car in Haleiwa early Friday.

Police said a man, 47, was asleep in his parked vehicle about 2:50 a.m. on Twin Bridge Road, about one-quarter mile east of Kamehameha Highway, when he was approached by two acquaintances who spoke to him briefly before leaving the area.

About a minute or two later, several shots were fired into his vehicle, shattering the front and rear windows and nearly hitting him, police said.

Police searched the area for possible suspects but made no arrests.
