A 7-year-old boy has improved from critical condition to serious after he was hit by a car in Kapalama.

The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. on Pua Lane near North Vineyard Boulevard.

Paramedics took the boy to the hospital in serious condition, said Emergency Medical Services spokesman David Mower. He said initial reports indicated the boy was hurt when a car ran over him.

Police traffic investigators were sent to the scene after the boy was originally listed as in critical condition.
