Police identify suspect in Nimitz hit-and-run crash, but investigation ongoing
Honolulu police say they have identified a possible suspect in a hit and run crash that critically injured a 29-year-old man last night.
Police said the victim, who has no local address, was in a marked crosswalk on Nimitz Highway near K-Mart when he was hit by a vehicle that left the scene of the crash at about 9:08 p.m.
Paramedics took the man to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition with head and other injuries, police said.
Police were looking last night for a 1992 gray Honda Civic with possible front passenger side damage.
A Traffic Division investigator said they have identified a possible suspect, but the case remains under investigation.
Speed may be a possible factor in the crash, police said. It is unknown if alcohol was involved.
