Asiata commits to Washington

Saint Louis School offensive lineman Paulay Asiata gave his oral commitment to the University of Washington, according to Scout.com.

Asiata is 6 feet 5 and weighs 290 pounds.

"I’m going to U-Dub. They were the best fit for me," Asiata told the website.

Four seeds advance to main draw

Four players advanced to the main draw of the Honolulu Challenger tennis tournament yesterday at Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park.

The four winners in yesterday’s qualifying draw were Woong-Sun Jun of Korea, Luka Gregorc of Slovenia, Ti Chen of Taipei and Oliver Sajous of Haiti.

Jun beat Hawaii Pacific University freshman Petr Michnev of the Czech Republic 7-5, 6-2.

UH baseball celebration set

The Hawaii baseball program will hold its ninth annual UH Baseball Grand Slam Celebration on Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Food, wine and beer will be provided by many Hawaii restaurants, and entertainment and a silent auction are planned.
