A number of suspects in high-profile crimes were scheduled to make their initial appearance in Honolulu District Court this morning.

Since Friday was a judicial furlough day, suspects charged since Thursday are all scheduled to appear this morning.

Among those scheduled to appear:

>> Scott V. Lee, 30, is charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, two counts of second degree burglary and two counts for the use of a firearm in a felony.

Lee allegedly tried to rob a man in Kaaawa and steal a car at gunpoint. He was found in a nearby home Wednesday afternoon. A police SWAT team surrounded the house and closed Kamehameha Highway for about three hours until Lee surrendered.

>> Bronson Maneafaga Cambra, 25; Robert Berrios III, 32; and John Andrew Cullen, 27, are charged with first-degree robbery. Terii Nakaahiki, 39, and Pomaikai Ah Mook Sang, 20, are charged with drug violations.

All five fled from a car allegedly involved in the armed robbery of a Hawaii Kai recycling center Tuesday. Four of the suspects were arrested shortly after abandoning the car near Castle Junction. The search for Cambra shut down Kailua schools and Kalanianaole Highway for several hours.

>> Bruce Mirafuentes, 44, is charged with terroristic threatening, gun charges, and unauthorized control of a motor vehicle. His partner — Emanuel Williams, 19, is charged with driving without a license and hindering prosecution.

On Wednesday, police said undercover officers arranged to buy a stolen vehicle from two suspects at Kohou and Houghtailing streets in Kalihi. Mirafuentes allegedly pointed a gun as he tried to run away from the officer, a member of an undercover auto theft unit.

>> Walter E. Haas, 45, is charged with abuse of a family member, kidnapping and two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening. Police said Haas allegedly threatened two relatives with a knife, barricaded himself in a Waikiki apartment and then jumped into a trash chute to escape. Firefighters had to remove Haas from the trash chute after he got stuck.
