Wong named first team All-American
Hawaii junior Kolten Wong was named to Baseball America’s preseason All-American first team today.
He’s the first player under head coach Mike Trapasso, who will begin his 10th season this year, to earn the illustrious honor.
He’s the only player from the Western Athletic Conference to make either the first, second or third teams.
Hawaii’s schedule this season includes No. 7 Texas, which has pitchers Taylor Jungmann (first team) and Cole Green (third team), Oregon pitcher Tyler Anderson (third team) and Cal State Fullerton junior hurler Noe Ramirez (third team).
Wong was named the WAC preseason player of the year earlier this week. In December, he was named to the Louisville Slugger preseason All-America second team.
The Rainbows open the season against the No. 9-ranked Ducks on Feb. 18 at Les Murakami Stadium.
