Food fight prompts closure of Kaiser High School cafeteria

A food fight involving about 75 students erupted in the cafeteria of Kaiser High School yesterday, making a big mess and spurring administrators to close the cafeteria to students for the rest of the week.

Students will be able to get their lunch in the cafeteria, but will have to eat outside, said Principal John Sosa.

“If the students don’t appreciate the beautiful building we have up there, then they lose the privilege of being there,” Sosa said.

He added, “We certainly are not proud of it. It doesn’t reflect the behavior of most of our students.”

Sosa said the food fight erupted during lunch, and apparently was planned by a small group of students.

Spagetti was on yesterday’s menu.

Sosa sent a note home to parents informing them of the incident and pledging to track down who was involved.

“Our biggest concern is this is not the kind of behavior we want to see,” Sosa said. “We’re extremely disappointed.”
