The haze and vog that have been clogging the air over Oahu will spread and persist throughout the islands for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast for today calls for showers on Kauai, with a slight chance of showers Oahu and Maui county, high temperatures from 76 to 81 degrees, and variable winds to 15 mph.

Those light south-to-southeast winds will keep the islands under a blanket of vog for much of the week, according to forecasters.

A front will approach but not quite reach the islands by the end of the week, however associated showers may reach Kauai and possibly Oahu late Thursday into the weekend, they said.
