UH to announce the return of Tomey today
The University of Hawaii has called a 1 p.m. campus press conference for today to announce the hiring of Dick Tomey as an assistant football coach.
The 72-year old Tomey will replace special teams and defensive secondary coach Chris Tormey, who resigned to accept a position at Washington State.
Tomey spent 10 years (1977-’86) as UH’s head coach before taking over at Arizona. He later coached with the San Francisco 49ers and was head coach at San Jose State.
Tomey is expected to coordinate UH’s special teams for the 2011 season.
