Kamehameha Highway reopened after Kipapa crash

Kamehameha Highway was reopened four hours after a critical multivehicle crash near Kipapa Bridge today.

The highway was closed from Lanikuhana Avenue to Ka Uka Boulevard following the 1:37 p.m. crash.

A Waianae man, 31, who had been pinned under a vehicle was taken the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, according to a spokeswoman for the city Department of Emergency Services.

Two other men, ages 28 and 21, sustained serious injuries and were also taken to Queen’s, she said.

A fourth person was taken to the hospital, but no immediate information was available because the patient was taken away in a federal ambulance and federal officials could not be reached for comment.
