Police arrested a 55-year-old man who assaulted a police officer yesterday afternoon after an auto collision in Wahiawa.

A patrol officer responding to the report of a motor vehicle collision, asked the driver to park his vehicle.

The man, parked, got out of the vehicle and allegedly punched the officer once, causing pain to the officer.

The man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault against a law enforcement officer. The officer was taken to a local hospital in good condition. 

The man was also taken to an area hospital in good condition for treatment and for medications, police said.
