Hawaiian Auto Show crowd up 17%
Attendance at last week’s three-day First Hawaiian International Auto Show was up 17 percent over last year, officials reported.
Motor Trend magazine, which staged the auto show in Honolulu, did not release total attendance figures. The event was held Friday through Sunday at the Hawai‘i Convention Center.
The quarterly Hawaii Auto Outlook sales report has discussed consumers’ pent-up demand for the past several quarters, which could be reflected in the attendance increase.
Motor Trend offers pre-show incentives such as free subscriptions with ticket purchases, while local sponsors also offer discounts off the regular $7 ticket price, as well as other discounts and incentives to attend. This year, as last, cash giveaways helped drive attendance as did free slices of Papa John’s pizza.
