Tour bus fatality was Kaaawa man

The man killed Monday night when a tour bus hit him as he ran from a crime scene in Waikiki has been identified as Eric Decatur, 22, of Kaaawa, according to the city Medical Examiner’s Office

Police said they believe Decatur ran into the street after stealing two 12-packs of beer from the ABC convenience store at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki hotel about 10:37 p.m. He tripped and fell, dropping the beer on Koa Avenue.

He got up and continued to run, then tripped and fell again, this time falling under the rear tire of the bus.

Decatur was pronounced dead at the scene. Medical examiners said he died from cranial cerebral injuries.

About 7:30 p.m. Monday, Decatur had been released from police custody on $250 bail after being charged with fourth-degree theft stemming from an incident earlier in the day.

Man dies after Nimitz crash

A 67-year-old man died last night after a single-car crash on Nimitz Highway that may have been caused by his medical condition.

Police said the man was driving a 2009 Hyundai sedan toward Diamond Head just after Camp Catlin Road when he crossed the center median and drove through three lanes of oncoming before crashing into a fence about

6:30 p.m. The man was taken to Kaiser Medical Center in critical condition and died at 7:11 p.m.

He had previous heart surgery and was on numerous medications, police said.
