Van Doornum leads Hawaii past LaTech
Jeff Van Doornum hit the go-ahead two-run double with two outs in the seventh inning and Hawaii defeated Louisiana Tech 5-2 on Monday night to take three of four in the series.
The Rainbows (21-15) improved to 7-1 in the WAC, jumping 1 1/2 games ahead of idle Fresno State.
Blair Walters (4-1) allowed one hit in 2 1/3 innings of relief, striking out three to earn the win.
Lenny Linsky closed the door in the ninth for his seventh save.
The Rainbows close out a 27-game homestand with three against Valparaiso beginning on Thursday.
