Hawaii swept at UCI to end volleyball season
Jonas Umlauft put down 18 kills and Steven Hunt added 15 but it was not enough as No. 6 Hawaii fell to UC Irvine 28-26, 30-28, 26-21 today in Irvine, Calif., in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball tournament quarterfinal.
The Warriors end the season at 15-13, losing to the Anteaters (19-11) for the eighth consecutive time at UCI.
Hawaii had two set points in Set 1 and four in Set 2 but couldn’t finish it out.
The Warriors are now 0-6 when opening the MPSF tournament on the road.
Carson Clark had 17 kills and three of UCI’s six aces.
It was the final match for Hawaii seniors Joshua Walker (eight kills, two aces), Nejc Zemljak (41 assists, 10 digs) and Brennon Dyer (five kills, an ace).
