Consul general says Japanese tourists will return
The consul general of Japan in Honolulu has assured Hawaii lawmakers that Japanese tourists will again continue traveling to the Aloha state.
Honorable Yoshihiko Kamo yesterday spoke to the Hawaii Legislature to provide an update on how last month’s earthquake and tsunami continues to affect the lives of Japanese residents.
Kamo says the earthquake and tsunami has made many Japanese people refrain from having fun to show condolence for the victims.
He says radioactive contamination does not pose a threat to the public health and that travel to Japan is safe.
He spoke to state lawmakers after they passed a resolution requesting an address earlier this month.
